The Dominica High Court has adjourned the hearing on the bail of fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi till June 11. The court heard the petition filed by Choksi’s legal team through video conferencing.
Government side objected to Choksi’s petition
During the hearing in the court, the government side expressed strong objection to Choksi’s petition and demanded the court to dismiss the petition. The bail hearing was held before High Court Judge Waynate Adrian Roberts via video conferencing on a petition by Choksi’s local legal team.
Choksi’s legal team includes Julian Prevost, Wayne Norde, Wayne Marsh and Kara Shillingford-Marsh. The government side, represented by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Sherma Dalrymple, has strongly objected to Choksi’s plea, reported Dominica News Online.

At the same time, on this matter, Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt said that the rights of Mehul Choksi will be respected and the court will decide on the further course of action.
Choksi was caught in Dominica on 23 May
Fugitive diamond merchant Choksi, wanted in India in a Rs 13,500-crore bank fraud case, was caught in Dominica on May 23 after his mysterious disappearance from Antigua and Barbuda.
Mehul Choksi files complaint with Antigua Police
