Who is Jitin Prasad
Jitin Prasad is the son of veteran Congress leader Jitendra Prasad. Jitendra Prasad had been a political advisor to two prime ministers (Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao).
In 2000, Jitendra Prasad contested the election of Congress President against Sonia Gandhi, but he was defeated. Jitendra Prasad passed away in 2001.
After this, Jitin Prasad took over the political legacy of father Jitendra Prasad. In 2001, he joined the Indian Youth Congress.
In 2004, Jitin Prasad reached the Lok Sabha for the first time by winning from Shahjahanpur seat. Jitin Prasada was made a Union Minister in the UPA-1 government. He was one of the youngest faces to become a minister.
In 2009, Jitin Prasad contested and won from Dhaurahra Lok Sabha seat. In UPA-2, Jitin Prasad was given the responsibility of Minister of State for important ministries like Petroleum and Road Transport.
