UP: High Court dismisses anticipatory bail plea of MP Azam Khan

Azam Khan, senior leader of Samajwadi Party and MP from Rampur in UP, has not got relief from the High Court at present. The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has dismissed his petition, in which an appeal was made to the court for grant of anticipatory bail.

Azam Khan and his sons are lodged in Lucknow jail in Sitapur for the last one year. More than 80 cases were registered against him in the land dispute for the construction of Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar University. In which he has got relief from the court in many cases.

Since Azam Khan is unwell right now. On May 19, he got infected. Since then, he is undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow. The demand for Azam Khan’s release is continuously rising. Recently, local supporters of Ramupar had also given a demand letter addressed to the President and the Governor.
The Single Bench of the Lucknow High Court heard this petition. And it was canceled on the basis that Azam Khan was already under house arrest. And a B-Warrant was issued against him.

Cases are registered against Azam Khan under serious sections of the Indian Penal Code. This petition was filed for anticipatory bail in such criminal cases. In which Azam has been accused of many serious sections including betrayal by public servant, fraud, criminal conspiracy, corruption.

Azam Khan’s health improves
Azam Khan is seeing improvement in his health after having trouble in urination. A day earlier, the doctors had expressed the possibility of operating him. According to the close members of the Azam Khan family, his health is much better now than before.
