Aligarh: Police has launched ‘Operation 420’ to arrest those involved in illegal activities in which those dealing in adulterated food items, drugs and petroleum products etc. will be caught.

Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani said that under Operation 420, a campaign is being launched to nab the criminals who are involved in the business of adulterated food items, medicines and petroleum products etc. Apart from this, gangs running gangs in the name of getting jobs, preparing fake degrees and getting admission and other crimes like cyber fraud are also on the target of the police, he said.

Naithani said that he is setting up a cell which will be monitored by senior police officers and they will prepare a complete account of those who have been involved in such crimes in the past. After the recent spurious liquor incident, Aligarh Police is identifying those ‘benami’ businessmen, which were run by people associated with liquor mafia.

On Tuesday, police raided the premises of a petrol pump operated on the basis of forged documents in Talibnagar basti and arrested five people from there, an official said. During the last two days, the administration has bulldozers destroyed several properties, including farm houses and marriage houses, set up on illegally occupied land by liquor mafia in many parts of the district.
