Case filed against Twitter India MD for wrong map showing J&K and Ladakh as separate countries

Twitter has taken back the map showing Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as separate countries on its website, but its problems do not seem to stop. According to news agency ANI, Manish Maheshwari, managing director of Twitter India, has been booked under section 505(2) of the IPC and section 74 of the IT (Amendment) Act 2008 for showing a wrong map of India.

Twitter raised questions when the disputed map surfaced
Actually, this map was revealed on the company’s website only on Monday morning. The objectionable map had appeared under the heading ‘Tweep Life’ in the careers section on the website. The company’s tussle with the Indian government over the new IT rules continued, meanwhile, questions were raised on Twitter’s intentions when the controversial map surfaced. The company had to face heavy criticism because of this.

Twitter has removed the wrong map
At present, Twitter has removed the wrong map of India from its website. Earlier, a dispute arose over showing Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir as separate countries from India in the map released on the website. The government had also taken a tough stand against Twitter regarding this. Even ordered to gather facts for action. However, under heavy pressure, Twitter had to remove the wrong map.
