The elections for the post of District Panchayat President in Uttar Pradesh were held on Saturday. After the counting of votes, the results of almost all the districts have been revealed. BJP-backed candidates have won 67 out of 75 districts in the state. This includes other districts including Lucknow, Amethi, Bareilly and Rampur.
At the same time, the Samajwadi Party was able to win in 6 districts. It includes Etah, Balia, Azamgarh etc. The Samajwadi Party has made serious allegations of kidnapping of Zilla Panchayat members. Releasing several videos on social media, the Samajwadi Party under pressure from the BJP made serious allegations of assault on district panchayat members, indecency with women members and threatening by firing.
Out of 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, 22 district panchayat presidents had already been elected unopposed. These included the president of 21 BJP and one Samajwadi Party. Whereas on Saturday, voting was held for 53 District Panchayat President. After the counting of votes, their results are almost out.
BJP state president Swatantradev Singh tweeted and congratulated the winning district panchayat presidents supported by the party. Also wrote that in the Panchayat elections of Uttar Pradesh, BJP supported candidates have won 67 seats out of 75 districts. I express my gratitude from the bottom of my heart to the people of the state and the hardworking workers of BJP for this unprecedented result.
Allegation of getting helper to vote in Rampur, picketing
During the voting on Saturday, it was alleged on behalf of the Panchayat member of SP in Rampur that without his demand, the administration made a person his helper to cast his vote. Senior SP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ramgovind Choudhary alleges that the administration has done this to get the BJP supported candidate to vote in the election. After this Ram Govind Chaudhary sat on a dharna along with the SP workers against the administration.
Accused of stopping voting in Ayodhya
It was alleged on behalf of the SP that BJP workers tried to stop its panchayat members in Ayodhya while going to vote, but the SP-supported panchayat members struggled on every front and somehow escaped from the BJP workers to cast their votes. For this he had to work hard.
