New Delhi: The Supreme Court, on Monday, granted five-day interim bail to journalist Siddique Kappan to go to his ailing mom in Kerala.
The top court, however, restrained Kappan from giving any interview to the media or meet the general public.
The Kerala journalist, who was arrested by Uttar Pradesh police last 12 months whereas on his way to Hathras to fulfill the family of an alleged gang-rape-cum-murder victim, shall be under UP Police guard.
The UP police had arrested Kappan and three others for their alleged links with Common Front of India and its affiliate in Mathura.
Chief Justice SA Bobde stated that the UP police will take him to his mother’s house and in addition guard the house but won’t accompany him when he meets his ailing mom.
The apex court additionally ordered that the journalist shall not meet the general public except relations, medical doctors and close family members.
