According to sources, about the availability of vaccines, the officials informed the Standing Committee on Home Affairs that 135 crore doses would be made available between August and December this year. These doses will be of Covaccine, Sputnik-V, Zydus Cadila’s DNA vaccine and Bio-E subunit vaccine. This committee is headed by senior Congress leader Anand Sharma. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Additional Secretary in Home Ministry Govind Mohan, Additional Secretary in Finance Ministry K. Raja Raman was among the officials who spoke before the committee on the ‘socio-economic consequences’ of the second wave of covid.

Sharing information about several worrying forms of the corona virus, the officials told the committee that these include alpha, beta, gamma and delta forms. He said that these forms have been found in 174 districts of 35 states and union territories. Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, West Bengal and Gujarat have reported the maximum number of their cases. According to the information shared by the officials, there is a high prevalence of worrying forms of corona, their severity and there is also a change in terms of diagnosis, medicines and vaccines. A source related to the committee said, ‘The officials told the committee that the cases of worrisome forms of Kovid were 10.31 percent in May, which increased to 51 percent by June 20.’

The source said that the study conducted by the ICMR and the National Institute of Virology on the efficacy of Covaccine and Covishield against these forms shows that the immunity in these forms decreases slightly compared to other forms, but the vaccine does not reduce the risk of disease. Seriously effective. The committee was informed that a similar study is being conducted on the effectiveness of Delta Plus.
